Since 1998 Dominic Crinson has been single handedly re-inventing
the tile. When Dominic developed his proprietary process for digital
printing ceramic tiles he kick started a digital revolution in
wall and floor coverings. His tiles and wallpaper are for design
conscious decorators with a bold, experimental streak, looking
for wall coverings that express their flamboyant character.
Born in London, Dominic graduated with an MA in fine art and communication
design in 1987 from De Montford, Leicester. He then went on to
practice as an exhibiting ceramic artist with international British
Council shows and solo exhibitions in Tokyo.
Dominic has since become
internationally recognised for his extravagant design style.
Delicate yet bold, contemporary whilst embracing tradition, he
creates wall tiles that enrich spaces with their kaleidoscopic
prints, evocative colour and bold imagery. Using natural forms
as inspiration and abstraction as a method for creating pattern,
Dominic Crinson creates vivid wall coverings for contemporary and
statement interiors.
New innovative printing methods embrace traditional craftsmanship
to produce tiles are desirable, luxurious, and above all, beautiful.
The range includes wall and floor tiles and wallpapers and
the collection includes more than 200 designs with the aim of
satisfying any style choice from the classic to the naïve, stylish
to the theatrical.
Dominic Crinson has worked on a variety of high profile architectural
projects and his work can be seen around the world from Conran
and Partners hotels to Heathrow’s Terminal One. In 2006 Dominic
received an illustrious commission from design aficionados Bombay
Sapphire to design a series based on the iconic blue glass bottle.
These tiles went on to launch the Sapphire Inspired Bombay Sapphire
advertising campaign and has since splashed the pages of the world’s
most luxurious magazines.
In 2007 Dominic opened his first shop in eclectic Camden Passage,
Islington, a veritable treasure trove with its curiosity style
cabinets and inspirational displays. Customers are invited to explore
his entire collection, discuss commissions and view material samples. |

"Finally we can see people becoming more confident
with their personal design choices and creating statement interiors
with colour and pattern in their homes. Colour is extremely powerful
and I believe we can benefit from the application of vibrant and
harmonious tones in our everyday surroundings.
I try to interweave
recognisable forms or graphic elements in a natural gentle geometry
to create dynamic patterns that suggest movement and optical
illusion. Through my design work I aim to challenge consumers not
to simply follow the latest trend but to allow themselves to express
their own design choices and truly connect with their very own
style. I aim to foster styles that are relaxed, playful and individual
in nature."

Sapphire Inspired". "I
am very excited to be working with Bombay Sapphire," says Crinson. "Consumers
of Bombay Sapphire have a lifestyle which reflects a strong interest
in design and creativity so we wanted to emphasise how entrenched this
brand is with that world,” says Fritz Westenberger who directed
the ads. "To
do this we couldn’t just present them with pretty pictures, we
wanted to create something with style and depth, which would engage the
consumer and make them feel challenged and moved in some way."
The "Bombay Sapphire Inspired" campaign launched in the UK
with the "Complexity" which has now appeared in magazines across
